THE EFFECT OF HOMESCHOOLING

            Education always become something interesting to talk. Education nowadays becomes main need for people. The people do many ways to get education for better life. Without education, people tend to be stuck with their life and difficult to improve. Many better jobs require certain degree for jobseeker. If people don’t have certain skill and degree, they will end up with physical job which lower salary. Many ways to get education whether formal or non-formal education. Formal education is getting education with attending the school. Non-formal education is getting education without attending school. Home schooling is one of the example of non-formal education. Home-schooling is learning method where study activity does at home. Usually the teacher will come to the student’s home with flexible time and different learning method compared with school. Homeschooling gives positive and negative effect. In this paper, I will focus to talk about negative effect. Those are unsocializing, unable to work in team and strong commitment is needed.

            The first point is unsocializing. Since study does at home, the chance for student explore outside automatically reduced. The teacher comes to home to teach and give assignment. The student just takes and does assignment by himself at home. It can lead student become someone individualist. They can do task by himself but he unable to measure his ability compare others. This situation also give impact to student’s phycologist.  The student tends to close and silent toward other. The student will lose his playing time with friend (benefit for his develop) since he difficult to make friends.

            The second point is unable work in team. As mentioned before, most of homeschooling activities do at home. The student usually stands by himself. He never experienced to meet and work with other. It is difficult for student to believe and work with team. He will not feel comfortable with this situation. This thing become a weakness for homeschooling student to get job where ability work in team becomes most of wanted skill search by employers.

            The third point is strong commitment is needed. Homeschooling is not easy when it does. Strong commitment is needed to sustainability of homeschooling. The parents encourage to take big part to control student to meet certain standard. The student will feel bored faster because he uses the same situation every day. Furthermore, if the student does that by force. So, to avoid bored, creativity in homeschooling is a must.

            Those 3 points are small example of negative effect of homeschooling. Many more negative effects that caused by homeschooling. In other side, homeschooling also offers many benefit for student such as quality, flexible schedule and gain specific skill. Those 3 points mentioned to give a consideration for parents to choose which education is better for their kids. As a general, homeschooling is an alternative education when the student cannot meet criteria for attending school.
